The super-acrobatic, faux fighting of capoeira is fun to watch. But the chanting and rhythm musicians add a magical and other-worldly feeling.

More fundoshi, spirit or flesh?

A friend of mine regularly participates in these shrine carrying rituals, every season except winter. I tried it once, but now it’s best to claim old age prevents me from lifting. I do, still, like to watch.

Infrastructure moe?

Maybe this counts as infrastructure moe. Where else but Japan would a ridiculously non-standard low arch be maintained in a public space with a crazy duct-taped fabric warning people to watch their heads?! It’s so bad, it’s superlative.
