I never cared for Lana del Rey before this video, overly produced and a downer. But this re-telling of Jackie’s story is so amoral (“money is the anthem”), shallow, and sexy that I am now enchanted.
Here’s Anpan man ringing the bell above the giant rope cord, before donating money and praying. Quite the action shot.
I’m using a new film camera now, in addition to the digital one. Do you notice any difference?
“You don’t have any fucking idea what it’s like not to have any butter for Xmas.”
The Portuguese have responded by demanding money from Norway. For Xmas.
Is Anderson Cooper the next Oprah? He launches his daytime talk show by showing off his body while getting a spray tan with Snooki. What explains his endless hunger for attention? Apparently money cannot fill the hole created by this neediness. (Thanks, Christophe).
Any excuse is a good reason to visit the male host club section of Kabukicho. Of course the real life hosts and want-to-be hosts are the main attractions. I like how those climbing the ranks are on the streets trying to hustle clients, host wanna-bes and anything with a heart beat.
The plentiful club ads are also something to marvel over. I love this ad for Trust and the possible false quote from Ernest Hemingway. What great advice: “The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.” I will overlook the lack of symmetry between “somebody” and “them.” But generally I find it hard to trust young men who are exchanging booze (and maybe more) for gobs of money.
This Seoul bus ad was spotted by a reporter based in Japan, who tweeted the photo with the message, “Just saw this at a bus stop in Seoul. Would these boys make you want to visit Japan?”
Was she joking?! Of course, these heavily groomed boys and their matching outfits will lure foreign tourists and their money.
It’s a two-way street now between Japan and Korea with boy bands being the enticing candy that drives commerce. “Endless Discovery” seems to be a win for the feminine publics!
Last weekend I helped my online moe language teacher, Bangin sensei, with his cosplay for the third time. Unlike the past two times– one in a small park, the other in a cosplay event– this time I would photograph Bangin and his friend Keith doing a Boys Love cosplay.
I love how Bangin originally explained his request by email:
Because this cosplay is BL, I would have to pretend to touch, kiss, or rape(not really of course!)…whatever. My friend is sure about this, so if you can accept it, I would like you to help us.
Is independence worth $75 million? I guess Madonna’s showing that she can still earn some more money.
