And the Hunky Jesus winner is . . . Baby Jesus

baby2_hunky_jesus.JPG

Like Folsom Street Fair, the Hunky Jesus and WTF Mary contest marks the SF spiritual calendar of fantasy, spectacle and the sublime. This was the 36th annual contest and my first HJ in many years since I’ve been living in Tokyo.

I like how each Jesus created their own storyline, often independent of the Christian chronology. A 9 month pregnant woman won WTF Mary. “Good timing on her part,” as my friend said. Baby Jesus, “I’m just a baby,” won the HJ category. His is probably the sexiest adult diaper I have ever seen, and he won a lot of attention by pouring milk from his baby bottle across his hairy chest.

Thanks, Sister Roma, and all the good nuns for an outstanding event that brought together freaks, families, and pure joy.

Narimiya Hiroki

Narimiya Hiroki

Is life circular or just my own depraved mind? An interesting discussion on Bangin sensei’s brilliant website about the difference between gay and Boys Love (BL) male ideals. On the one hand there are yakuza and gay terms aniki and gachimuchi (兄貴/ガチムチ), a butch-er, often mustachioed and muscle image. It can be summed up as ikanimo-kei (イカニモ系). On the other hand, there is the yaoi dream of androgynous beautiful boys, yaoi taikei (ヤオイ体型), who often do not appeal to gay taste.

Somehow the discussion led to young actor and singer Narimiya Hiroki, and then, despite the often lack of celebrity online photos, this deliriously dirty image above from his photo book Milk. OMG! And then, the husband reminded me that he is the star of the movie I want to see on DVD, Lala Pipo. It’s based on Okuda Hideo’s hilarious book (available in English translation, too).

Has anyone seen Lala Pipo? Does anyone have any intimate details about Narimiya Hiorki?

Naive Lady Toilet Paper

Naive Lady Toilet Paper

Japanese English is always inspiring. This toilet paper brand is called Naive Lady. I love the illustration, where the house (or old fashioned factory?) is dwarfed by the bird sculpture and giant pitcher of milk. Love the green, pink and red color pallette. The husband tried to explain the name, as in “the lady is so naive that her bottom is very soft.” Hunh?! Naivety in leads to soft bottoms, and ladies are more naive than gents? This is a linguistic and logical nightmare!
