Cher

Take It Like a Man, as only Cher knows

This concept is not very sophisticated, yet the song and video express Cher’s gender fantasy. Women are strong, men are pretty. Thanks, Eric the fez, my old college roommate for bringing this religious work to my attention.

Does she look like Cher to you?

Another favorite from the Tokyo Pride Parade last weekend. I love her outfit and her pose. Somehow, she reminds me of Cher. And her American-themed outfit is at once a tribute to the still occupying super-power, and also a desecration of its national symbol. I half-expected her to belt out “Half Breed” while sitting on a stationary horse.

Dress code for US aircraft carrier

A friend has been invited for a private tour of a US aircraft carrier, and asked me what would be appropriate dress code. Other than anti-war protests, my only direct experience with the Navy is Cher’s “If I could turn back time.” For Cher, a super-sized wig, thong, minimal V-shaped fabric covering the front, metallic belt, fish nets, garters and high heeled boots seemed to make the sailors smile and dance in her video.

What would you recommend? Are double butt tattoos mandatory for aircraft visits?
