Is the barrette the Japanese male equivalent of the pony tail? Like, I was in a rush to get out of the house and go cellphone shopping, so I just grabbed my mask and pulled my hair back with this barrette? I guess there’s never enough time in a day!
This department store shopper manages to combine “boots-in” with several other current trends. The low slung and non-functional studded belt. The dangly purse that resembles what hair dressers use to hold their scissors and clippers; for non-pros, it’s like a mini-man purse for wallet and cellphone, often wide open and facing the backside. There’s also the bag that looks like a fanny bag but is worn like a messenger bag across one shoulder. Plus a long, gratuitous extra chain.
Japanese love themed holidays. Even Docomo is going nuts over Halloween, with little black-and-orange witches hats on their “doco-take” mushroom mascot.
BTW, we hate Docomo, which insists on stealing at least $500 per person per year for the most basic voice and text message service (let alone i-mode, internet, etc). Thieves! Not so different that cellphones in U.S. I *LOVE* Skype 😉
