No more drama in our schools. Jackie Beat combines the insults of Joan Rivers with the voice of Cher. Am I in love?

Happy 100th, Ladies & Drag Kings!

Takarazuka, the Japanese all-female musical revue, is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and the post office commemorates with postal stamps! Lots of gorgeous feathers, rhinestones, and men’s black tie. It looks so romantic. Who wants to go with me to the show in Hibiya?

BDSM comic artist Gengoroh Tagame celebrates winter in Tokyo
Celebratory drunken youth on snowy Seijin no hi at Nakano Sun Plaza

I vote for Team Delinquent. Now that the film has been developed, there will be many days of male yankii glory. So much pomp, excitement, make-up, skin color innovation, and camaraderie.
Of the many cliques celebrating their 20th years of life, including the wanna-be hosts, wanna-be salarymen, and yankii ladies, it’s the delinquent boys who seem so welcoming to this teetotaling, foreign pervert. I heard a few ladies snickering in jealousy, but I focused instead on male beauty, pride, and friendship.
Nearly naked men splashing water on eachother to thank gods
I don’t fully understand why, but these men are celebrating their beloved water source and its miraculous return by throwing water on each other in winter. And, as its a sacred ritual, they are wearing almost no clothing. It’s called Yu kake matsuri (湯かけ祭り), which basically means water splashing festival. Thanks to the hubb for forwarding this video.
Hakuho, sumo champion again in Tokyo

Undefeated in two weeks, Hakuho won the tournament two days early. He is celebrating by holding up some lucky “tai” fish given by a wealthy admirer. I would have a big smile, too, if someone gave me two giant expensive fish! Hakuho is adorable!!
Celebrating new niece, with tonkatsu

I received the exciting news that my neice was born last week in New York. The husband was still asleep, so I celebrated alone at my favorite neighborhood restaurant that specializes in the very best tonkatsu in the world. A 70+ year-old chef masterfully coats and deep-fries pork cutlets that taste heavenly. As you can see, the lunch special is huge: pork-cutlet (fatty or lean, I always choose fatty), cabbage (endlessly re-fillable), tomato, parsley, soup, pickles, rice and potato salad (or the other salad I never choose). Green tea, also. If I were to re-marry, I’d marry the chef!
ps: How can any religion prohibit something this tasty?!
