Asian

Is Tumblr making it easier to collect and share ikemen images?

OMG, now I’ve discovered two more Tumblr blogs, presumably by white women who love young Asian guys. Probably connected to FuckYeahBlondKoreans.

FuckYeahIkemen: As their tag lines says, “You have to admit it, Asian men are gorgeous. Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese, it doesn’t matter, we love them.” As long as they are young, often blond, and preferably shirtless seems like the unwritten extra criteria!

FuckYeahHirokiNarimiya: An attractive Japanese actor I’ve blogged about before. Widely rumored to be gay.

Exhaustive history of Asian men dating x-cross race lines

Hilarious 50 part series looking at Asian men throughout history who marrying, dating and sleeping with ladies of different races (plus Lieutenant Sulu’s husband). I thought this fetishization of Asian men would find a welcome audience among my readers. (Via Ask A Korean).

Complex.com’s introduction is hilarious, and there are many many examples of mostly movie stars and their fictional and real loves.

It’s no secret that everybody lusts after Asian women—just visit the streets of any major city, or Nic Cage’s crib, or this very web site (here, here, or here, for starters). So yellow fever is nothing new, but the miscegenasian has historically been one-sided: non-Asian men looking to fulfill their fetishes of submissive, exotic geisha-types. Get in where you fit in, fetishizers—but whither the Asian man? Unfortunately, the only sexual stereotype of our yellow brethren is decidedly negative (word to Ken Jeong’s nude scene in The Hangover), and there are only a handful (pause) of famous Asian men in America that might turn slant-eyeds from zeroes to heroes.

But things, they might be a-changin’. When Pepa chose Tom Lo to be her man in her VH1 series, it was one small, chocolatey step for Lo, but possibly a giant step for Asian mankind. Here, then, is our gallery of Asian men who’ve gotten love outside of their race in real life as well as movies and TV. You know, they’re all pink inside, folks…

Churro leaves bad taste

Am I bad, or is this photo disturbing? This blond child drummer is selling churros at a new fast-food pan-Asian noodle restaurant in Nakano Sun Mall.

The cultural confusion– Mexican-Aryan-Asian– combined with the ecstatic expression, pre-pubescent model, and Xmas theme is more than I can take.

The husband predicts the restaurant will not last more than a few months.

How to pick koreans from other asians just by looking at them

Hilarious blog post about “how to pick koreans from other asians just by looking at them.” One of the indicators, of course, is the shaggy men’s hair-do. Although I must stay that looks like many young Japanese men’s fashion. And probably Taiwanese too (^_-)

The blog is called Ask a Korean. Discovered via Twitter’s alexanderchee.

An Ode to Hot English Chastity

brightspan

I am an idiot, but the phrase “hot english chastity” has me laughing aloud. “Hot chastity” is already funny, but “hot english” is almost as improbable in my mind. Is it true what the Japanese guy told me, that I am an “A-jia・sen”? Like “debusen,” or fatty-chaser, I guess “ajisen” is an Asian-chaser.  Nonetheless, the new Jane Campion film might be romantic and sultry indeed.

Haru: Show opened on Friday

Friday was the opening day for Shu and his parents’ small gallery show. Claire came with her kids Morrison and Elie, as did our unconventional monk friend Hiromi. Others included his parents’ ceramics students, my mother-in-law’s tea ceremony teacher, a new customer, and good friend Mayuko with her husband Kota and adorable 3 month old Yujin (named after rock and roll pioneer Eugene Vincent). I was surprised and thrilled to see my good friend Takahiro, whom I met years ago in Beijing. He’s now launching his own contemporary Asian art organization Far East Contemporaries. Shu and his parents’ show lasts for ten days, so please come by if you are in Tokyo!
